ACT for Parents of Teens with Emotion Dysregulation

with Dr. Patricia Zurita Ona

Emotional  dysregulation among teens is a challenge that many of our teen clients — and clients who are parents of teens—  face.  Dr Zurita Ona will present both the  rational and the methodology of  treating parents of teens with emotion dysregulation with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.  You will learn

  •   the presentation and causes of emotional dysregulation among teens
  •  an ACT formulation for parents of teens struggling with emotional dysregulation
  •   how to walk around  the hexaflex for parenting a  teen with  emotional dysregulation
  •   specific skills, exercises, and protocols you can use clinically

Dr. Zurita Ona, or “Dr Z”, is a licensed Clinical Psychologist in California, in private practice at Eastbay Behavior Therapy Center. Initially a school psychologist,  she now practices as a clinical psychologist. She has significant experience working with children, adolescents and adults with mood, anxiety, eating disorders, and body image concerns; particular areas of expertise are Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Dr. Zurita Ona also provides specialized services for individuals struggling with emotional  dysregulation problems (borderline personality disorder) with or without self-harm and suicidal behaviors.

She is the co-author  of the book “Mind and Emotions: a Universal Protocol for Emotional Disorders”, and is bringing out another book in early 2017 for parents of teens struggling with emotional dysregulation.

In addition to private practice, Dr. Zurita Ona is on the clinical faculty of the Wright Institute, where she supervises, teaches, and participates in dissertation committees as the graduate level.
